  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, rinsed and draine
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, sliced jalapenos, chopped green onions, chopped fresh cilantro
